Educational needs analysis and educational plan

Training needs analysis is a systematic approach to determining the causes of performance that is below expectations. This approach allows for effective recommendations or next steps to be made. Training needs analysis helps organizations align training with their strategy, as well as increasing the likelihood that resources and time are spent on effective training.

If a needs assessment is not carried out, there is a risk that training will be misused as a solution to poor performance, even when a lack of training is not the cause of the problem. The process of training needs assessment involves both management and employees, which increases their interest and understanding of the need for training.

The process:

1. Preparation: Review of data, such as policies, values, job and competency descriptions.
2. Focus groups: Interviews with staff.
3. Processing: Analysis of data and conclusion on the need.
4. Analysis result: Proposals for training and professional development arrangements, such as a training plan.

By going through this process, companies can ensure that they are applying training in the right way, which contributes to improved performance and increased job satisfaction.
